How to get beauty on a budget

Beauty on a budget is important for many ladies at the moment, with finance at the forefront of everyone's mind.

However, an expert has claimed that it is possible to not spend a fortune and still look good.

Amanda McGillivray, the founder of The Natural Skincare Company in West Sussex, has suggested thinking "quality rather than quantity".

"Rather than opting for cheap beauty products with synthetic chemical ingredients, go for medium priced quality ranges, preferably natural and organic," she said.

There are even times when you can use cosmetics from the home, if you are brave enough.

"Something like olive oil on its own can be used as an extremely effective moisturiser, albeit a bit greasy."

Although heading to the kitchen cupboard may not be for everybody, making sure to bag a bargain while not scrimping on quality is the best way to cut costs until the economic wave rides out.

Ladies - know your bra size!

Many women are still wearing the wrong bra sizes, it has been claimed.

Despite the increasing amount of publicity that ill-fitting bras receive, women are still not getting the message.

A survey conducted by website bras.co.uk found that two thirds of women believed they were wearing the correct size, but that 75 per cent of them falsely believed that a 28DD bra wearer would have the same size breasts as a woman wearing a 34DD.

Rhona Marshall from specialist website has claimed that many woman are still mistaken as to what bra sizes are.

"It's a mistake that a lot of women make. In face your cup size is relative to your strap size - the cup of a 28DD is smaller than the cup of a 34DD," she said.

"When women look in the mirror and don't see huge breasts, they assume that they can't possibly be a DD or bigger and choose a bra with a smaller cup."

Ms Marshall added that some women might go to such an extreme that they are wearing a 34C when they should be wearing a 28FF.

Gordon Brown revealed to be a makeup wearer!

When in the public eye, everyone wants to look their best.

However, it came as a surprise to us here at the Clothes Agency when we heard that even Gordon Brown is concerned enough about his looks to use makeup!

Documents left in a London taxi and revealed in the Sun showed that the prime minister wears a multitude of products, including upmarket brands Clinique and Guerlain.

A source told the Sun: "It's an idiot's guide to applying heavy makeup. It will cause deep embarrassment because the PM paints himself as a no-nonsense man's man."

It shows that he uses concealer, fake tan bronzer and eye cream when he is on the television.

Before a meeting with US president Barack Obama earlier this year, pictures showed Mr Brown having makeup applied while on an airplane in Washington DC.

While he is never going to win any prizes for looks, it is good to see that all men now take pride in their appearance - even 58-year-old Gordon.

How to fake a tan successfully

Fans of the tan are forever finding that putting on fake-tanning products can be a nightmare.

Streaks, lines and dark patches are just some of the concerns that many people are faced with when attempting to put the cream on.

As such, the Daily Mail's Elsa McAlonan has suggested the best way to fake a baked look.

The first step, and one that many forget, is to exfoliate as "you will get far better results," Ms McAlonan said.

Second, dry patches need attention, so make sure to moisturise thoroughly - especially the elbows, knees and ankles.

Only now should you get the fake tan bottle out, which should be applied "sparingly, using one squirt at a time, in elongated, circular movements" while wearing protective gloves.

To prevent streaking, wipe knees and ankles quickly with a damn cloth, making sure to pay attention to finger and toe nails.

Finally, it is important to keep try to give it a chance to develop.

Follow these simple steps and you will be well on your way to being a tanned beauty!

Men increasingly turning to cosmetic surgery

It seems that men are now getting so stressed in their jobs that they are turning to cosmetic surgery.

A report from the Harley Medical Group has found that men are getting more and more anxious about their chubby bits.

Moobs, mandles and "Simon Cowells" - another word for jowls, apparently - are all becoming difficult issues for men.

Mr Frati, a surgeon with the group, said: "We're not surprised so see a trend emerge for professions most likely to opt for surgery as the side-effects of a punishing job can cause the loss of elasticity and encourage build up of stubborn fat in key areas.

Popular procedures include mini-facelifts to improve jowls, with "Boytox" (Botox for men) also increasing in frequency.

We here at the Clothes Agency believe that such procedures are unnecessary!

We don't want our men to end up looking like Joan Rivers…

Instead, a little bit of moisturiser, dressing well and getting a good haircut are all we think men need to keep confidence up and appearances youthful.
