Step by step process
- You need to sign up to be a member of the Clothes Agency site if you haven’t already. Simply register - it’s absolutely free and will only take a moment. Once completed, you can log back in using your username and password and start shopping right away.
- To purchase an item you can either browse by department - all you have to do is select the gender you wish to visit by clicking on women, men, children, or the exclusive celebrity sales - then sit back and browse at leisure! Alternatively you can use the ‘search facility’ if you know what you are looking for.
- Once you see an item you like the look of, click on the image and it will show you further details about the item and the seller.
- We advise you to check the seller’s sales and returns policy so you understand if you can return the item and, if so, within what time-frame.
- We also advise you to check the sellers feedback and comments, remember don’t be put off by no feedback, it just means that they are new to the site. You may want to ask them a few more questions before you buy.
- If you are unsure about any of the details outlined and would like to confirm or ask further questions, do use ‘Ask the seller a question’ facility prior to purchasing. Simply enter your message into the 'question box' at the bottom of each item available for sale . Your questions and answers (as many as are needed!) will be stored in my messages section of my account - you'll find sellers to be generally very responsive and helpful!
- Once you are sure on the purchase click on the button ‘Add to basket’
- At this point you’ll be able to proceed to checkout or continue shopping - feel free to add as many items as you like to your shopping bag before checking out!
- When you wish to complete your purchases you will be able to select your chosen method of payment. PayPal payments will automatically proceed to the seller’s PayPal account. Cheque/check payments will mean that an email will be sent to the seller with your order and you will then hear back from them with instructions on where to mail your cheque (please note that payments via this method will only be acceptable in the seller's currency).
- You will receive an email confirming your order and, depending on which method of payment you've chosen, you will also receive an email confirming your payment (or the address to which you will need to send your cheque).
- Once payment has been made simply sit back and wait for your item to arrive!
- Once you've received your purchase, please don't forget to complete ‘your feedback’ - it's an important part of the community and gives the ability for both buyers and sellers to build their online reputations.
- Please note that once you've confirmed your wish to purchase the item, you are obliged to complete the transaction - failure to do so may result in negative feedback!
Want think about an item before buying?
If you've spotted a treasure but would prefer to think about it, you can easily store it in your ‘I love it’ section by clicking on 'I love it! ' - it's available on each listing and you can return to it later. You can do this with as many items as you wish and they will stay in ‘I love it!’ until removed.
Useful Tip: It's important not to feel too rushed at the Clothes Agency, but at the same time it might not be advantageous to leave items in ‘I love it!’ for too long! The next time you visit, the item you loved it may be 'greyed out', which means someone has beaten you to it.
Want to make the Seller an offer?
Clothes Agency has an additional buying tool; ‘Make me an offer’. This is now available to registered buyers who wish to make an offer to a seller. By making an offer, sellers will receive a new message via their ‘My messages’ system. Once received, the seller will either accept or reject your offer, which you can view via ‘My messages’ – once accepted you are obliged to purchase the item promptly, otherwise the item may get purchased by someone else or it’s possible you’ll receive negative feedback.
Unsure of the condition of an item?
The Site encourages members to describe their items for sale in a clear and accurate manner. For instance, if an item is new, it can be advertised as 'brand new with tags' or 'brand new (no tags)' - see descriptions below:
Brand new (with tags) This means the item is exactly that - that it is new with the original tags and/or packing in place. These should be included when sending an item to a buyer! Brand new (no tags) Items that are recent purchases, have never been worn, but have had their tags removed. New and unused Items that are unworn - but are maybe a little older. Nearly new Items that have been worn/used only once or twice and are in impeccable condition. | Gently worn Items that have been worn a few times and so cannot be classified as 'nearly new' - and may show a small amount of wear. Good condition Items that have been lightly worn/used and are still in first class condition. Reasonable condition Items that have been worn, are obviously second hand, but are still in reasonable condition. These items will be more commonly found in the ‘ultimate reductions’. |
Is the sizing unfamiliar?
As a global community there are sellers and buyers from all over the world. Based in the United Kingdom, Clothes Agency displays its sizes primarily in UK format. If this is unfamiliar to you, then the International size chart will guide you to the equivalent in your country.
Check an items selling and returns policy
By familiarising yourself with the seller's selling & returns policy, you'll be able to see if returns are acceptable and, if they are, in what time-frame they need to be returned to the seller - this may make a difference later if the item turns out to be unsuitable and, as some sellers do vary in their flexibility, it's important to read them.
Like a seller’s items
If you like a particular seller's items click on ‘Other items from this seller’ to see if anything else catches your eye - and if you really admire a particular seller - you can add them to your favourite sellers in your preferences- that way you'll be notified of any new listings!
What is a Business Seller?
Some sellers on the Clothes Agency are registered as a business, which means that they resell items or buy items for their business or make items themselves to sell for a profit.
What is a Charity Seller
Some sellers on the Clothes Agency site are registered as a charity, which means that when you purchase an item from them your total payment and proceeds go straight to the charity.
Seen something that may be perfect for a friend?
If you find an item that you think might be just right for someone you know, then you could complete the ‘Send this item to a friend’ form which is located at the bottom right of each item on sale - it might be just what they're looking for!
Enjoy your shopping !
