Postage & packing

One of the great things about Clothes Agency is that there are no hidden extras. This can be used as a fantastic selling tool for potential buyers, as they are not stung with 'extra p&p' on top of the asking price. Their only added cost will be insurance and that is purely a matter of personal choice.

Remember:

When items are listed for sale on Clothes Agency, it is important to price your item with your postage and packing costs in mind. Each item listed is displayed as 'inclusive of postage & packing' so it's vital that you factor in your carriage costs and add them at the point of listing the item in the relevant box - they cannot be added later once the garment has been sold.

Once sold, it is important that you ensure every item is well packaged - these few simple tips will help to ensure the safe arrival of your item and the appreciation of your customer.
  • When packing items for delivery, wrap each piece in tissue paper or bubble wrap and place in a padded envelope/postage bag or a securely wrapped package and seal with brown packing tape. It is obviously advisable to try to make your package as light as possible but remember to make certain the item is well protected.
  • Ensure the items are packed securely within the package so as not to move around within the outer packaging.
  • Use either recorded delivery or registered post with the sender's return address clearly shown on the reverse of the envelope/package. It may cost a little extra, but the peace of mind is worth it!
  • Remember to include the cost of your country's mainland postage within your selling price.
  • If you're happy to send your item abroad, make sure that you've selected International shipping within your item's listing, and entered the higher cost of international shipping within the relevant box. Don't forget to check the Customs & Excise laws within your jurisdiction.
  • Package labels should be printed clearly and attached securely to the front and back of the package.
  • Keep your receipts to confirm not only when an item was sent, but also proof that it was posted.
  • With the more valuable items, we strongly suggest Postal Insurance, as The Site can accept no liability and does not guarantee safe carriage of any item posted or couriered.
UK Royal Mail charges do differ according to weight and location, and will obviously change from time to time. We recommend that Members obtain current listing pamphlets available from any Post Office taking particular note of Registered Items and cost. As of September 2007 it's only 64p extra to post Registered - it's worth it.

It's also important to remember to indicate in your Selling and Returns Policy, as well as at the point of listing individual items, whether or not you're prepared to ship abroad. This will be a useful selling tool if your item is purchased by a buyer from another country - but remember to add your International Shipping to your item where applicable.

RETURNS

In order to facilitate a fair
Selling and Returns Policy, it is recommended that each Seller and Buyer agree the terms of a return when necessary. The Site further recommends that all packages containing returned items are sent via Registered Post to provide not only Proof of Postage, but also Proof and Date of Delivery.

The Site further advises that wherever possible further postal insurance should also be taken at this
time.
