Photographs - Uploading Your Images
You can enter up to SIX images - completely free of charge - for every listing on The Clothes Agency. Here are some tips to make the uploading even easier!
How do I upload images? When listing an item for sale - towards the bottom of the listing page you will see 'Add Images' and below will be six boxes in a row - to the right of each box you will see the word Browse - click on this button and a small box will appear with the contents of your computer displayed. You need to find the image you want to upload - it'll be stored at the same file location where you initially saved it. When you have found the correct image, double-click it, you will then see the file name (not the image at this point) in the box you have chosen. Do this for each separate image. When you have finished filling out the boxes, press the Next button, the images will then be transferred from your computer to our server. Please note: This may take up to 5 minutes depending on your connection speed and the size of the image.
How large should the images be? In terms of file size, you should try to keep each image to no more than approximately 200kb - this will help with the speed of the download. Larger files can be accepted, but it will slow the process down considerably and may cause your internet conenction to stall, so it's strongly advised that you make them a little smaller! Tip: You can see the file size of any image by right-clicking the file on your own computer and selecting Properties. Look for a number - if it says 'mb' after it - it is too big and you will need to shrink it!
How do I make the file size smaller? The most likely cause of a large file size is that the actual image is too large. Using any image-editing software, you can change the pixel dimensions of the image. A sensible size would be about 600px wide - your computer programme should then calculate the height of the picture automatically.
Here are basic instructions on how to shrink images in the following four programmes:
Resizing Using: Adobe Photoshop
On the top menu, select Image, then Image Size. You should then see the current image dimensions, which you can alter as you wish. For portrait photographs, a sensible width would be 600px. The height of the image should change automatically to compensate.

Resizing using: Microsoft Paint
On the top menu, select Image, then Stretch/Skew. You will then be able to decrease the horizontal and vertical size by any percentage. Make sure you enter the same value for both the vertical and horizontal options. For example, decrease the width by 50% and decrease the height by 50%.

Resizing using: Paint Shop Pro
On the top menu, select Image, then Resize. You should then see the current image dimensions, which you can alter as you wish. For portrait photographs, a sensible width would be 300px. The height of the image should change automatically to compensate.

Resizing using: Macromedia Fireworks
On the top menu, select Modify, Canvas (on MX version only), then Image Size. You should then see the current image dimensions, which you can alter as you wish. For portrait photographs, a sensible width would be 300px. The height of the image should change automatically to compensate.

Resizing using: Digital Camera Software
Due to there being so many different types of software for digital cameras, you should consult your instruction booklet for a step-to-step guide on image resizing.
